Budget Information

Alpha Public School Budget 2012-2013 (click here)

Information regarding the 2012-2013 School Budget will be presented in a Public Budget Hearing at the March 27 Board of Education Meeting. A Power Point presentation will be added to this website following the March 27 Public Hearing.

On Jan. 17 Gov. Chris Christie signed legislation that permits communities to move the annual school board member election to November while eliminating the vote on a district’s proposed budget that is at or below the tax levy cap.

Under the law, there are three ways a community can move the election:

(1) a board of education can pass a resolution;

(2) the municipal governing body or bodies can pass a resolution; or

(3) voters can pass a public question that is presented to them at the November General Election.

Both the Alpha School Board and the Alpha Town Council passed resolutions moving the school board member election to November. The vote on the 2012-2013 school budget, being kept under the tax levy cap, will be eliminated.
